A Fashionable Day At The Beach

We went over some essentials for those long haul flights, but what if you're just going to your local beach?  Here is a list of essentials for your day at the beach:

Sunscreen

This is pretty obvious but can you believe there are still alot of people that don't wear sunscreen while they bake themselves at the beach!  Insane right, but please, regardless of your age, complexion, sex or planet you think you're from- you need to protect yourself from the UV in sunlight!!!  If the cancer doesn't scare you, then maybe the premature aging and wrinkles will!  The solution-a good sunscreen!  Our top pick for sunscreen is definitely Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock ($9.99).  This sunblock is incredibly lightweight, non greasy, water resistant, and has excellent UVA and UVB protection.

Plush Beach Towel

In case you can't tell, we here at Musk like our luxury and creature comforts-so there's nothing like a soft and comfy towel to lounge on!   Our pick?  L.L. Bean's Seaside Beach Towel ($24.50). Soft and plush, made with cotton that dries fast without fading, you'll be savouring your day at the beach!  It comes in a great range of colors and patterns, not to mention it's big enough to cover any sized bottom!

Fashionable Wide Brim Hat

These are so fashionable this year-you'll see them everywhere and on everyone, so along with protecting your face from the sun, you'll be looking chic.  Our fav hat was Juicy Couture Ribbon Floppy Hat ($49).  It comes in 2 colors-blonde color or white, it's stylish and can be folded into your fav beach bag.

Flattering Bathing Suit or Bikini

Notice the first words there ladies (and gents).  Anyone can go to the local super store and pick up a $20 bathing suit-unless you can be the next prepubescent American Apparel model-it probably won't be so flattering.  There's a great line of bathing suit called Miraclesuit, that is carried by Bloomingdales (and yes they deliver!).  The price range is from $56-$150, but whatever your problem area is, chances are they have a suit to fix it!  If you're body is rocking, then check out the suits from BCBG-they are gorgeous!

Comfortable Tunic/Sarong

On your way to the beach you may fancy wearing a tunic or sarong for a coverup and we all know you want to look good.  Might we suggest you take a look at Neiman Marcus-they have a great selection of sarongs and coverups.  We really loved the Diane con Furstenberg Kielo Coverup ($250), light and airy and very flattering, you''ll love the feel of this coverup.  However if this is more than you want to spend (and we understand if it is!), check out Lands Ending and Anthropologie who have some reasonably priced sarongs and coverups.

Beach Bag

Now you know what to take, what do you put it in?  A tote of course.  For the fashionista in all of us, Kate Spade's La Playa De Cebra Large Coal Beach Bag ($355.00) left us drooling and a little giddy.  Another great find is Nine West's Raffia Tote ($49).  A  stylish, affordable bag with a a handy cell phone holder, you'll make waves this season!
