Sexy, Sleek and Twisted - Our Favorite Hair Trends for Summer
There were 3 signature hair trends that we absolutely adored this season, so we thought we'd give you an easy how to, so you can rock this season.
The Effortless Sexy Bohemian
This is perfect for the woman on the go who doesn't have a lot of time to style. It works best with medium to long hair of and doesn't require much product or effort!. The key wash hair, let it air dry and center part. If you can get a little texture in it-like a soft wave or have your hair cut so it's layered and frames your face well, then your set. To get a soft wave, just towel dry your hair and add a quarter size amount of product, like Shu Uemura's Silk Mesh ($30) from roots to end, then let air dry. Speaking of Shu, we've been using the new Prime Plenish Shampoo and Conditioner ($40 and $50 respectively) and I've never had so many great hair days. This system uses Jasmine Essential oil to bring back nourishment, shine and body to your damaged hair. We highly recommend trying and it will help you perfect that "effortless chic"!! If your hair is not all one length and your have bangs, this look still works. Just get your bangs cut with a sexy fringe and it works well with this style!
The Sleek Slicked Back Hair
This is almost the opposite to the Bohemian look and it works with all hair lengths-short , medium or long. It requires styling and product-but it's fab for the evening or office. The basic look is to have your hair tightly pulled back from the face with it being sleek and perfectly coiffed. To get this look, prep your wet hair with Bb Prep ($17.00), to detangle and help hair for styling. It's best to blow dry your hair with a round brush, this will help to give your hair a smooth and manicured appearance. While drying, remember to pull back your hair, and put into a tight pony tail or bun. Afterwards, apply a small amount of gel, we like Bumble and Bumble's Gellac ($24.00) to keep your hair sculpted and glistening. So sleek, so sexy, and best part-it goes from day to night.
The Funky Braid
For the woman who is practical but likes to be stylish-this look is for you. Braids help to get hair out of your face during those hots months, yet they also add a bit of texture and style. This season's braid is very tight and with a slick. The technique is similar to the slick back hair-prep your hair, blow dry and pull back, instead of just pulling back and putting in bun or pony tail, tightly braid it. So long as it's tight and the hair looks sleek you're good to go!
