How To Wear Pants - A Handy Pant Buying Guide

I know what you're thinking, don't you just put one foot and leg in and then repeat?  However, anyone can wear pants, the key is to make them flattering and work for you.  I know holiday season we all want to wear a dress, but you know what-it's freaking cold and I think pants are in order.  I've seen so many women (and men!)  in the most unflattering cuts, that I thought I'd put together a handy guide, you can use it for yourself or when you're buying that gift, but at least it will become a pair of pants that will be worn.  So if your legs are:

SHORT:

Goal:Lengthen your lower torso

Complimentary Cuts: Wide leg, tapered, straight leg, flared and raised waisted pants work well

Complimentary Styling:Pants that gather at the waist, have darts, fly zippers, vertical seaming will all help to elongate your legs

Avoid:Horizontal lines, patch or flap pockets, cuffs they all act to shorten you even more

LONG:

Goal:Shorten your lower torso

Complimentary Cuts:Yoked or drop waisted pants will look smashing

Complimentary Styling: Flap pockets, cuffs, faced waistlines

Avoid:Pleats, Creases and raise waisted pants, they'll make you look like an amazon

CHUNKY:

Goal: To slim, lengthen and gently define your legs

Complimentary Cuts:Wide leg, tapered and straight leg trousers always work well

Complimentary Styling:Creases, narrow waistbands, slimming sew in pleats

Avoid:A too tight fitting pair of pants-no chunky monkey!

SHORT/PETIT

Goal:To elongate the body

Complimentary Cuts:Tapered or straight leg jeans or trousers work well

Complimentary Styling:Vertical lines, pleats, creases, slant pockets, fly zippers work well

Avoid:Pants that are too long, full or cuffed
