| The Three Accessories You Need For Summer
If there's one thing the French are known for, it's how they accessorize. There is just an instinct ability to make the most normal and basic outfit look stylish by pairing it with the right pair of shoes, scarfs or the perfect bag. Here are three accessories that we noted were EVERYWHERE on the streets of Paris.
1) Cone Heeled Pump
These were on most women on the street. The heels weren't too high and the thick heel provides the stability you need, so I can see why they were a popular choice. A great choice would be the Ellenbecker pump you can find at Aldo ($60), it's flattering on most feet and for once a trend that is actually comfortable!
2) Long Scarf
This is also a trend that can go from season to season. For winter they are thick woolen scarfs, for spring/summer it's a lighter almost sheer fabric. You wrap it loosely around the neck to keep you warm, but it also makes you look good. We love the simpleness of the Denis Colomb scarfs ($475US) available at Barney's, but if this is a little too much, then H&M make some great, fashionable scarves (price varies averages $14.95).
3) The Not So Loud Statement Bag
One key difference I noted between bags in North America and bags in Europe, are that the larger purses and bags tended to be simple shapes and single toned-almost understated. The bags definitely worked with the outfits and became part of it, rather than drawing attention away from the clothing. Chanel make some great handbags and are definitely worth a look (they start at $400). Our favorite is the Quilted Nylon Coco Cocoon Large Zipped Tote, so beautiful, but it's a few paychecks!
There you have it, 3 simple, yet stylish additions to your wardrobe that will make a difference and have you looking like a Parisian in no time!
