Red, Nude and Blue-Summer 2010 Makeup trends

We all know Paris is a city that is ahead of trends months, sometimes years before everyone else,  so after surveying the streets of Paris over the past few weeks, we've come up with our picks for what you should be doing makeup wise for summer 2010 and even further.

There are 3 main trends which are easy to pull off, chic, and best of all, don't require much time-perfect for the woman on the go!

Red

By red, we mean a dramatic red, on your lips with the rest of your face pretty bare-just a hint of mascara and very light blush, but the key is to keep it toned down.  Bright red lips were seen alot with paler looking faces, sort of that modern renaissance look that seems to be everywhere.  If your looking for the perfect red lipstick, then check out Chanels' Rouge Coco ($30US) in Mademoiselle and Lancomes L'Absolu Rouge ($29.00US/$35CDN)in Fast Kisses.

Another use of red (and this is particularly prevalent during the fall 2010 runway shows), was using a deeper darker red eyeshadow and eyeliner on the eyes, and keeping the rest of the face bare.  We particularly like the smokey copper-red eyes, it's edgy but somehow wearable.  Urban Decay's Liquid Liner ($18.00US) and Eyeshadow($17.00US) in Gash does the trick. If you're unsure of this trend, try just using a the eyeliner to line the eyes and stop there, it really makes a statement, but without making you feel to flashy!

Nude

I just love this trend, and it can go from season to season by just changing the texture of your makeup-sheer, lighter neutral makeup for spring/summer and matted, more textured neutral makeup for fall/winter.  To be clear, nude means keeping all the colors on your face close to your natural skin tone, so makeup looks barely there.  We saw this alot in Paris, very elegant but chic.  The key to this look is to have flawless looking skin, so for summer, consider using a bronzer instead of your normal foundation, and you'll look sun kissed.  A great bronzer that comes in all skin tones are is Guerlain's Terracotta Moisturizing Bronzing Powder ($46US).  There are lots of shades that you can blend, so your guaranteed to find a tone that works best for you.  If you prefer liquid bronzers, Armani's Bronze Mania Skin Tint ($55US) is a good choice.  It basically makes you look like you spent a week in the Mediterranean without the jet lag!

Blue

This trend is basically the opposite of the nude trend, it's a splash of a vibrant color to highlight a feature on your lovely face.  So it's either a bright colored (usually pink) lipstick, or bright colored eyeshadow (blue/purple/turquoise), the key is to just pick ONE feature and go for it,  any more and you'll look like you're part of the circus!  Yves St Laurent Longlasting Eye Pencils ($28US) makes some great colors (silky pink, purple silk, turquoise and oriental blue), that will highlight your eyes and make a statement. For eyeshadows, look no further than Shu Uemura's Gem Glam Collection.  I'll say it once and I'll say it again, Shu Uemura makes THE BEST eyeshadows!! They blend well, stay on and just last all day.  We love the Gem Glam Pressed Eye Shadow ($20US/$23.50CDN) g Silver (a sparkling silver), p 450 (pearl pastel sea green) and the g Rainbow(sparkling pink tone white).  The Gem Glam Vinyl  Unlimited lip glosses (($20US/23CDN) are the perfect bright colors to highlight your lips!
