How to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring
With spring finally being here (the first official day was March 21), you are probably starting the think about your spring wardrobe. In these tough times, we thought we'd give you 5 tips on how to transition from winter to spring without breaking your budgets.
1) Layer up your clothing.
Try using your previous spring items and layer them to keep you warm while the weather begins to warm. They key is to layer with lighter fabrics, that way your not sweating through the day, and you can remove layers as it warms up. For instance, try wearing a bright spring t shirt underneath a warmer blazer, or go for wearing a spring dress with some black leggings and a cardigan. Best part is layering is so chic for the season, so you're not only being practical you're looking fabulous as well!
2) Accessorize with something bright.
Brighter colors are thought to be spring colors and this year is no exception. This year hot pink, green and yellows are all the rage. So try pairing a yellow bag with with black or brown pant suits. A pink belt or scarf always looks great with something tan. The idea is to give a hint of spring. So pick ONE item (and one item only) to make a little statement.
3) Try wearing a brighter piece of jewelry.
This season chunky jewelry is all the rage. So try wearing a green bracelet or turquoise ring with your basic outfit. Bangles and drop earrings are really hot this season, so splash a little color with them and you'll be looking chic.
4) Don't put away those winter whites.
This spring the LBD (little black dress) has a new friend-the little white dress. White was also popular for winter 2009 as well. So a great way to transition from spring to winter is to still wear that winter white piece (which is nice and warm) and pair it with something lighter and spring like.
5) Keep wearing those topcoats and military jackets.
Instead of keeping these hiding under your thicker coats, start wearing these as your outer layer with layered clothing underneath. Practical, yet fashionable.
