SUMMER HAIR COLOR

Did you know that over 50% of woman color their hair in some way shape or form?  I know, I never would of guessed it was that prevalent either!!  So as a homage to those of you who do, we thought we'd do a run down on what the hot color looks are for hair.

There are two main themes we are seeing this season, one of which is in contrast to bright makeup this season, and one that blends well with the golden makeup  this season.

The first trend is a little in contrast to some of the bright makeup we're seeing-it's all about subtlety.  The idea is to use various subtle shades that will blend together to bring some texture and dimension to your hair.  When the sun shines on your hair it will pick up these highlights and really flatter your look.  Pretty crafty!  So whether you are blonde, brunette, or a redhead, you want to pick shades that are slightly lighter and darker than your natural hair color and low/highlight with them. So for:

Blondes:try platinums and honey colors

Brunettes:try auburns, lighter and darker browns, burgundy and chestnuts

Redheads:try lighter red auburns, strawberry blonde

Whatever your colors, remember to keep it subtle, and definitely have your hair looking soft and healthy this season.

The other trend this season, goes well with the bronzing makeup that is all the rage.  It's all about having  a golden lighter tone to your hair.  Gold tones, warm blonds and a general lightening of the hair color is what defines this look.  The idea is that you want your hair to have a color that is similar to the way your hair would look if it was naturally lightened by the sun.  So instead of having to spend hours outside to get this look and most likely fry your hair doing it-you can now just color with your favorite brand (preferably ammonia and peroxide free), without all that nasty sun damage that can happen.  So for

Blondes:try golden highlights

Brunettes: try copper highlights (you can also go golden but not too gold!!)

Redheads: try copper and golden highlights
