How to Non-Offensively Swear

With the holiday season rearing it's head, we all know the stresses involved can cause us to slip out the occasional swear word.  Instead of sounding like a sailor on leave when your with the family, I've come up with some alternatives you can use to get bye and still be the apple of your parents eyes.

1) The F Word

Instead of saying the grand daddy of all swear words (you know the one that means fornication) and horrify your mother, try to say something that is equally harsh sounding yet satisfying-somehow "oh fudge" does not have the same effect.  Freaking,, frick or flipping are good alternatives, my persona favourite is fa, as in what the fa?  It just works!

Just What Is It About Paris....

Every time I travel to another city, I can't help compare but to compare it to Paris (and New York).  I was trying to figure out why Paris has gotten so stuck under my skin and why I love to go back time and time again.  I've come up with some of my favorite things about Paris and hopefully one will ring true with you.

Are We Too Cynical?

This past month, I had the good fortune to be in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics, and was amazed at the atmosphere in the city- every night there was a street party not to mention, a camaraderie and friendliness that I've never encountered before.  Now I'll be honest, I'm not one of those people that follows the games every time and just loves sports, in fact I can't remember the last time I watched a sporting event I wasn't dragged too, but this one was different.  Maybe it's the fact that there was the allowance to have all opinions (whether you supported the Olympics or not) to be expressed in a (generally) peaceful and intelligent manner.

Bet You Didn't Know Your Cellphone Can Do That!!

I got this really interesting email from a friend of mine in the UK that had all these great little facts about cellphones and how they can save your life.  After some research, we found that some of the facts were true and some were not.  We thought we'll go over some cell phone myths and let you know what's true and what's not.

The 5 signs of attraction

I have a male friend, who for the life of me, can't figure out how and why he's still single.  After spending a night on the town with him, I realized what the problem is-he's a complete idiot when it comes to female body language!  Here are 5 signs that will tell you if she (or he depending on your wants) is really that into you.

1)Eye Contact.

You know the kind, the one that seems a little too long to be normal, if it lasts more than a couple of seconds, that person is definitely digging your action. Related to this, after they look away if they fidget (flipping hair, adjusting clothes etc)-then they were definitely nervous and caught in the act.

Side note:If a persons pupils dilate when they look at you, they are attracted to you (it's totally subconcious and can't be controlled).  However lighting does interfere with this, so if it's a bright room or out in the sun, this might be hard to tell.

2)Facial Expressions

Aside from pupil dilation, there are other facial gestures that can indicate attraction-slight parting of the lips or nostril flare, the obvious batting of the eyelashes, but if a person is touching their face, that also is a sign-it means they want to draw your attention and have you check out their face.

3)Posture Changes

We all want to look our best when you want someone to check you out,  so most people tend to stand or sit straighter (better posture makes your body look better).  Quite primal, but some women subconciously (some not so subconciously), thrust their chests or lean against something, to accentuate the curves in their body. Men tend to thrust their chest (quite tarzan isnt' it?).  Another clue-check out their feet and positioning, if her they are pointing towards you, or they are leaning into you,  your company is being enjoyed.

4)Check the Palms

I found this quite interesting, but if a woman shows you her palms or wrists while talking to you, it is actually a form of submission.  Hey don't shoot the messenger ladies, it's what most body language experts say, when it comes to the rules of flirting.

5)Body Contact

Ok, I think this one is obvious, if that flirtatious giggle wasn't enough, then all the touching must clue you in.  We're not talking a body thrust (although you'll be surprised what you see in New York sometimes!), but if a gently touch on your arm, hands or dare we say it, face, are definite signs that your action is being dug!

There you have it, 5 signs, now go out there and have some fun!
